An unforgettable holiday in this atmospheric and
spacious Villa rich in history
Villa Orsi was built over several centuries and is situated in the mediaeval part of Azzate overlooking Lake Varese: the ground floor dates in part to the late 15th century, with coffered ceilings and graffitied walls, and in part to the 17th century with frescoed vaulted ceilings.
The Villa is surrounded by a large garden: the spacious lawn, encircled by a stone wall, overlooks Lake Varese and enjoys commanding views of the Alps which extend westwards as far as Monte Rosa, the second highest mountain in the Alps.
This is an unusual panorama for the area since most buildings at the time were built with their backs to the lake to protect them from the cold northerly winter winds.
THE GARDEN
The garden overlooking lake varese and with its private swimming pool is perfect for
weddings, events and holidays.
The garden at Villa Orsi is about one and a half hectares and opens out from the Villa over a large lawn with statuary and mixed flower borders all of which is surrounded by an 18th century stone wall. The spectacular view from the lawn encompasses the Swiss and Italian Alps as well as Lake Varese and provides an unparallelled background for idyllic photographs.
The stone columns of the porticoe are punctuated by large terracotta pots containing lemon trees and agapanthus all of which face onto the main courtyard. The south facing walls of the Villa are covered by climbing roses and solanums.
A large Japanese acer provides autumnal colour and a magnificent Osmanthus fragrans, or sweet olive, flowers in October wafting its lingering fragrance throughout the garden.
